From the Book: PREFACE: This book is an in-depth study that compares three quality management system (QMS) assessment methods: Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MB), International Organization for Standardization (ISO ), and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) for Software. ISO/IEC/IEEE Systems and software engineering – Software life cycle processes is an international standard for software lifecycle processes. First introduced in , it aims to be a primary standard that defines all the processes required for developing and maintaining software systems, including the outcomes and/or activities of each process.
The standards include ISO/IEC for software engineering, ISO for electoral organizations at all levels of government, and ISO for local government. These standards are complementary to ISO quality management in bringing best . ISO ISO , a set of standards and guidelines for a quality assurance management system, represents another body of quality standards. It was established by the International Organization for Standardization and has been adopted by the European Community. Many European Community companies are ISO registered.
ISO for Software. This document has been excerpted from hardcopy workbook for Component 9 -- "ISO Software Development" of Essential Software Engineering, a video curriculum developed by R.S. Pressman & Associates, Inc. Much of the text was written by Dr. Michael Stovsky, an expert in ISO issues. The standards apply to all facets of operations, from sales order activity to customer support, as well as product development activity and the role of software suppliers (developers) in the process of producing goods and services that depend on software. In this respect, the ISO revisions are particularly significant to this book.

The authors suggest solutions for how to satisfy ISO 's demand for documented complete requirements, reviews and documented evidences when using agile software development. Answer: Agile - good; ISO - only for qualifying for contracts, not to actually follow.
Edit I don't know the small writing in ISObut it might be possible to implement agile with ISObasically meaning you document your agile processes to the letter. But I doubt this would qualify you for ISO certification.

Chapter 3 in this part of the book gives such interpretations and explanations. ISO The need for a special interpretation of ISO for software was noted quite early, and in ISO published a guide for this purpose. The Tickit process was created by the British Computer Society and the United Kingdom Department of Trade and Industry for actually certifying ISO software development.
15 This partnership has turned the ISO guideline standard into a compliance standard. It allows software vendors to be certified for upholding the ISO.
